Leadership at the Edge

Podcast identity and promotional design

The Institute of Leadership and Management wanted a distinct identity for their new podcast series, one which would sit well with the Institute as a whole but not be as constrained by the usual brand restrictions. They needed square imagery to fit with the podcast graphic guidelines as well as landscape options for use on social media.

We decided to retain the Institute brand typography, but use it in a fresh way, making the most of the space available so as to be distinctive at small scale. We restricted the base colours to black and white with brightly coloured or highly contrasting photography in a cropped circle form, echoing the near-meeting of the D and G in ‘edge.’

We provided 12 variations, one for each monthly podcast for a year.

We were later asked to produce an advert for print in Edge Magazine, which needed a white background, luckily the brand was versatile enough to withstand the reversal.
